SUMMARY:Friday Bird Walk – North Campus Open Space
DESCRIPTION:North Campus Open Space (formerly Ocean Meadows Golf Course) has been restored to a natural environment more like what existed on this property before the golf course was created in 1965. There are trails for public access and passive recreation. This open space is a great addition to Santa Barbara’s natural heritage\, which makes our community so special. It will be preserved for the enjoyment of the local community in perpetuity. \n\n\n\n\nFriday\, February 20\, 2026 ~ 8:30 am – 10:30 am \nTarget Birds:\n\nRaptors\nHerons\nEgrets\nWaders\n& others\n\nDirections:\nFrom Hwy 101\n\n\nTake the Glen Annie/Storke Road off-ramp\nGo south (towards the ocean) on Storke Road about 0.85 miles\nTurn right on Whittier Drive\nTurn left into NCOS parking lot (see map)\nWe will meet here\n\nMap Here – or – Google Map \nOther Information:\n\nBring water  & snack\nWear comfortable shoes\nBinoculars a must (borrow ours if you need to)\nSpotting scopes are useful\n\nTrip Coordinator:\n\nKarl Weis\nContact Karl for information or questions
