SUMMARY:Sedgwick Preserve | Walking Ecology + Lecture
DESCRIPTION:Learn about snake habitats\, behavior\, and the important part they play in our ecosystem.  Rattlesnakes belong to a unique group of venomous snakes known as pit vipers (family name Viperidae) and the rattlesnake is the only pit viper found in California. \nThe walk will be followed by a lecture in the Tipton Meeting House.  Hayley will present her project\, “Predicting the Effects of Climate Change on Thermal Ecology and Energy Budgets of Snakes.” \nHayley Crowell is a M.S. student at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo studying the ecophysiology of rattlesnakes for her thesis. \nThere is a suggested donation of $20 pp in support of outreach efforts at the Reserve.   Class size limited to 40 people. \nParticipants must wear long pants and closed-toed shoes\, preferably leather or other reinforced material (not mesh). \nOne registration form per person\, please.   Registration form
