DESCRIPTION:Lake Los Carneros (LLC) is one of Goleta’s premier birding hot spots.  Its 25-acre lake and varied wooded and grassland habitats make LLC a wonderful place to visit in the middle of Goleta. Once a part of Rancho La Patera\, it is now a Mecca for anyone wanting to get in touch with nature. \n\n\n\n\nFriday\, April 24\, 2026 ~ 8:30 am – 10:30 am \n\n\n\n\nTarget Birds:\n\nWater Birds\nSong Birds\n& Others\n\nDirections:\n\nFrom Hwy 101 take Exit 107 – Los Carneros Road\nHead towards the mountains\nProceed straight through the roundabout\nAfter the roundabout\, the Goleta Railroad Depot will be on the right.\nTake the right into the driveway between the depot and the Fire Station\nWe will meet in the parking lot behind the fire station\n\nMap Here – or – Google Map \nOther Information:\n\nBring water & a snack\nWear comfortable shoes\nBinoculars are a must (borrow ours if you need to)\nSpotting scopes are useful\n\nTrip Coordinator:\n\nKarl Weis\nContact Karl for information or questions

SUMMARY:Sierra Club Hike - Friday Mornings
DESCRIPTION:We meet at the fountain in front of the mission at 9:30 AM in the morning for the morning hike. These hikes are on the front country trails behind Santa Barbara and Montecito. Dress appropriately with hiking boots\, comfortable clothes and bring at least a liter of water in your backpack or fanny pack. Bring sunscreen and bug repellent when necessary. \nThe morning hike leaves at 9:30 AM SHARP and we get back between 11:30 AM and noon. There are no dogs allowed on the hikes for safety concerns. The hike is approximately 4 miles\, 2 miles up and 2 miles back. These hikes are appropriate for beginners in good health. We will carpool to the hike from the mission. If you decide to ride with someone\, please be kind enough to give the driver a dollar per person for their trouble and gas. \nFor more information\, contact the leader Al Sladek at alsladek@gmail.com
