DESCRIPTION:Farren Road is at the very western edge of Goleta. It is a road that provides access along a ridge that is between Tecolote Canyon and Eagle Canyon. The habitat is varied\, thus providing a diverse list of avian species\, from sparrows to raptors. The views of the mountains\, ocean and Channel Islands is quite special as well. \nFriday\, May 8\, 2026 ~ 8:30 am – 10:30 am \nTarget Birds: \n\nAmerican Kestrel\nWestern Bluebirds\nHummingbirds\nSparrows\n& Others\n\nDirections \nFrom Santa Barbara / Goleta\nTake US 101 to approximately 1 mile past the Winchester Canyon Road exit.\nExit US 101 to the right (unmarked exit)\nTurn left onto Calle Real\nFrom the North County \nTraveling south on US 101\nExit Cathedral Oaks Road\, Hollister Avenue (Exit 110)\nTurn Left (towards mountains) and Proceed over bridge\nTurn Left on Calle Real \nThen for everyone \nContinue on Calle Real to end of road\nTurn right on Farren Road and park on the side of the road \nWe will meet there

SUMMARY:Sierra Club Hike - Friday Mornings
DESCRIPTION:We meet at the fountain in front of the mission at 9:30 AM in the morning for the morning hike. These hikes are on the front country trails behind Santa Barbara and Montecito. Dress appropriately with hiking boots\, comfortable clothes and bring at least a liter of water in your backpack or fanny pack. Bring sunscreen and bug repellent when necessary. \nThe morning hike leaves at 9:30 AM SHARP and we get back between 11:30 AM and noon. There are no dogs allowed on the hikes for safety concerns. The hike is approximately 4 miles\, 2 miles up and 2 miles back. These hikes are appropriate for beginners in good health. We will carpool to the hike from the mission. If you decide to ride with someone\, please be kind enough to give the driver a dollar per person for their trouble and gas. \nFor more information\, contact the leader Al Sladek at alsladek@gmail.com
