DESCRIPTION:Nestled between Goleta and Santa Barbara\, just above Cathedral Oaks Road\, is Tucker’s Grove. A popular park and oak woodland\, it is the main access to San Antonino Canyon Park\, whose main trail follows San Antonino Creek. The park attracts many birds as parks do\, but has the added bonus of having a long riparian corridor along the creek. DESCRIPTION:During this walk\, you may see several types of bird species that migrate to our region for the Winter. Our birders may see several types of sparrows\, including the White-crowned\, Golden-crowned\, Fox\, and the occasional White-throated sparrows. Other migrant species that may be spotted in the Garden this season include the Ruby-crowned Kinglet\, Hermit Thrush\, and Yellow-rumped and Townsend’s warblers. Both beginner and experienced birders will appreciate the diverse and beautiful birds that make their home around the Garden. \nWe encourage guests to wear comfortable clothing and shoes for walking around the garden\, and to bring binoculars. DESCRIPTION:Join SBAS board member and local wildlife biologist Ian Jackson on a bird walk exploring the diverse habitats of More Mesa\, a beautiful coastal open space between Santa Barbara and Goleta. We’ll cover approximately 3 miles over mostly flat terrain (with a few steep hills to climb/descend) through riparian woodland\, grassland\, oak woodland\, and coastal scrub habitats. Ian will help participants identify birds by sight and sound while sharing insights into their ecology and life histories. SUMMARY:Bird Walk – Birds & Brews - Douglas Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Join SBAS for a golden hour bird walk at the Douglas Preserve\, a 70-acre oceanfront open space gem in Santa Barbara. We’ll stroll the coastal bluffs\, wander through the oak woodlands\, and make our way down to the riparian habitats of Mesa and Arroyo Burro creeks\, covering approximately 2 miles of mostly flat terrain with one hill to descend and climb back up. Trip leader and local wildlife biologist Ian Jackson will help participants identify birds by sight and sound along the way and share insights into their life histories and ecology. \nThe walk will be followed by an optional drink/bite at Topa Topa Brewery in the Funk Zone\, where folks can connect\, plan their next bird outing\, or discuss more ways to get involved with Santa Barbara Audubon\, all while enjoying a delicious beverage crafted by a company that supports local environmental issues and organizations. \nNo sign-up necessary. \nFriday\, June 25\, 2026 ~ 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm \nDirections \nTake Mesa Ln. South\, then turn right onto Medcliff Rd. before you reach the Mesa Lane Steps.
