SUMMARY:Oso Flaco Lake Trail Hike
DESCRIPTION:Healthy People Healthy Trails: Oso Flaco Lake Trail Hike\nJoin us for a fun and refreshing in-person hike along the beautiful Oso Flaco Lake Trail! It’s a great way to get moving\, enjoy nature\, and meet new friends who love the outdoors. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just looking to explore\, this event is for you. \nMeet us at the Oso Flaco Lake Trailhead between 12:45 PM and 1:00 PM for check-in at our registration table and to sign our liability form. If you would like to park in the parking lot near the trailhead\, parking is $5.00; otherwise\, free parking is available outside of the lot. \nThe trail begins from the Oso Flaco Day Use Area and travels along an asphalt road roughly 0.25 miles to a bridge. The bridge\, which crosses over a portion of Oso Flaco Lake\, has slots in the rails designed to allow fishing. \nBeyond the bridge\, the trail continues for 0.5 mile along a coastal dune boardwalk and terminates at an ocean overlook. The surface is asphalt and wood. Sections of the boardwalk navigate over or through moving sand dunes that occasionally deposit sand on the boardwalk surface. \nThe trail is generally flat\, with slopes of less than 5% and intermittent sections between 5% and 10%. Along the bridge and boardwalk\, benches and educational panels invite visitors to rest and learn about the area’s native people\, animals\, and plants. \nAccessible picnicking\, parking\, and vault restrooms are available at the trailhead parking lot. An additional accessible vault restroom is available roughly 0.8 miles from the trailhead parking lot. It can be accessed from the boardwalk or from a special disabled user ATV landing area and connecting walkway. \nBring your water\, snacks\, comfy shoes\, and a smile—let’s make healthy living a group adventure! \nFor more information\, resources\, and tips\, visit HealthyPeopleHealthyTrails.org. Tag us in your photos and follow us: @HealthyPeopleHealthyTrails \n\nOrganizer: Santa Barbara County Nutrition Services

SUMMARY:Gaviota State Park Hike with Siena
DESCRIPTION:Looking to get outside this weekend? A guided hike in Gaviota State Park is the perfect chance! \nJoin us this Sunday\, April 19th\, from 1 pm – 4 pm. We will head up the Ortega Trail\, then take the Woodland Trail\, and return on the Yucca Trail to complete a 3.2-mile loop. We will venture through the Gaviota Coast’s chaparral landscape and witness stunning mountain and ocean views. Bring plenty of water and a snack. \nTo get to the trailhead from Santa Barbara\, take Highway 101 north to the State Route 1 exit for Lompoc. From the exit\, turn left and cross over the freeway and continue west. Look for the first road on your left\, San Julian Road\, and follow it back towards the freeway. The road passes Vista de Las Cruces School. Park at the end of the road near the gate for the trails.\nDistance: 3.2 miles\nDifficulty: Moderate \nTrail Map: https://santabarbaratrails.org/maps/gaviota/gaviota-state-park-2024.pdf \nTrailhead: 9467 San Julian Rd\, Gaviota\, CA 93117 — Drive past the school and meet at the gate at the end of the road. \nThe group will meet at the trailhead at 1:00 PM to ensure a prompt start. Please be punctual to respect everyone’s time. Please dress appropriately with hiking boots/shoes and comfortable clothes meant to get sweaty and possibly wet. We recommend a 1-3L water bladder in a backpack\, depending upon trail difficulty\, so that your hands are free to cross water or scramble up/down rocks. \nNote: Rain or low attendance cancels the hike. \nGroup organizers assume no liability; hike at your own risk. By participating in this hike\, you agree to assume all risks and liability related to or resulting from this activity. Neither the group’s leaders nor any third party will be held liable for any injury\, loss\, or damage that may occur. Participation is based on an “at will” basis. \nWe’re lucky to have access to such stunning trails\, but keeping them safe and accessible takes effort. Consider supporting the Santa Barbara County Trails Council by volunteering or becoming a member:\nJoin the SB Trails Council \nOr contribute to their Trail fund:\nDonate to the Trail Fund \nYour support helps maintain and protect the beautiful outdoor spaces we love.
