DESCRIPTION:The Goleta Beach / Goleta Slough / Atascadero Creek area is one of the go-to hot spots in Goleta for birding. The eBird hotspot for the area boasts 232 species. Waterfowl\, shorebirds\, waders\, raptors\, gulls\, and other species are not uncommon in their season. DESCRIPTION:During this walk\, you may see several types of bird species that migrate to our region for the Winter. Our birders may see several types of sparrows\, including the White-crowned\, Golden-crowned\, Fox\, and the occasional White-throated sparrows. Other migrant species that may be spotted in the Garden this season include the Ruby-crowned Kinglet\, Hermit Thrush\, and Yellow-rumped and Townsend’s warblers. Both beginner and experienced birders will appreciate the diverse and beautiful birds that make their home around the Garden. \nWe encourage guests to wear comfortable clothing and shoes for walking around the garden\, and to bring binoculars. Although the Garden is dog-friendly\, participants are asked not to bring their dog(s) to this class. \nPricing:\nGarden Members: $25\nGeneral Public: $35 \nAbout Rebecca:\nRebecca Coulter has been birding in the Santa Barbara region for over 20 years. SUMMARY:Sierra Club Hike - Friday Mornings
DESCRIPTION:We meet at the fountain in front of the mission at 9:30 AM in the morning for the morning hike. These hikes are on the front country trails behind Santa Barbara and Montecito. Dress appropriately with hiking boots\, comfortable clothes and bring at least a liter of water in your backpack or fanny pack. Bring sunscreen and bug repellent when necessary. \nThe morning hike leaves at 9:30 AM SHARP and we get back between 11:30 AM and noon. There are no dogs allowed on the hikes for safety concerns. The hike is approximately 4 miles\, 2 miles up and 2 miles back. These hikes are appropriate for beginners in good health. We will carpool to the hike from the mission. If you decide to ride with someone\, please be kind enough to give the driver a dollar per person for their trouble and gas. \nFor more information\, contact the leader Al Sladek at alsladek@gmail.com
