SUMMARY:Todos Afuera Hike | Rattlesnake Canyon
DESCRIPTION:While the focus is to encourage Latinx participation\, everyone is welcome! The group exists to provide more opportunities to get outside that are culturally relevant\, remove existing barriers\, and increase Latinx participation in conservation. \n\nHike leader\, Graciela Cabello\, is a volunteer organizer supported by the Santa Barbara County Trails Council. She does this work because she is passionate about sharing her love of outdoor recreation with her community\, and equally passionate about protecting our public lands for generations ahead. Se habla Español. \nMeet in the Parking lot of Skofield Park at 9am. 1801 Las Canoas Rd\n(You can also type in Skofield Park into your GPS and it will take you there) \nThe park is located about 3.7 miles in the hills above Santa Barbara. From the eastside (Milpas St.) it takes about 10-15 min to get there. You’ll want to give yourself more time if you are not familiar with the area because the roads are winding and may require more time to look at your GPS. If you can print directions\, that is your best option since I’m not sure what service is like for the different carriers. \nWe will wait a couple minutes for everyone to arrive\, go over a few details\, and walk to the trailhead from the parking lot together. We should be done hiking before 12n. \nHike is 3.5 miles roundtrip. It is nice and shaded for part of the trail and there is running water in the creek. We’ll hike creekside for about 1.5 miles. \n\nWhat to bring: \n\nlunch\n \nHat\n \nSunblock\n \nBackpack \n \nAt least 2 litres of water (that’s 8 cups)\n\n(Please do not come with a small water bottle. It will be warm and the hike is a pretty steady incline\, so it’s always better to have more water than to have to turn around because you don’t have enough or risk getting dehydrated.)\n \n\nComfortable shoes (tennis shoes or hiking shoes). No sandals or open toed shoes\nIf you have a first aid kit\, it’s always a good idea to bring one. Or at least bandaids in case you get a blister. \n \nIf you have a backpack\, bring it to carry your water. If you don’t you can always hand carry your water. \n \nSnacks if you tend to get hungry. \n \nTissue in case you need to go to the restroom on the hike or blow your nose. Please note if you do go on the trail\, you need to go at least 100 ft away from water. You can also bring a ziplock to carry your used toilet paper. Please do not leave any trash on the trail.\n\nOther recommended items:\n \n\nHandkerchief\n \nhand sanitizer\n \nLip balm with spf\n\nIf you have any other questions\, feel free to call/text me at: 510.484.6613 or email graciela2277@gmail.com \nThank you for joining!!!
