Coal Oil Point Natural Reserve Hike

You will enjoy glimpses of rare and endangered species, such as the White-Tailed Kite, Western Snowy Plover, and the Wandering Skipper butterfly.

Public tours of the reserve are offered on the first Saturday of every month. RSVP is required to reserve your spot. A $20/person donation is suggested. To RSVP, please sign up on our Eventbrite page or email Jessica Gray at copr.conservation@nrs.ucsb.edu

One of the best remaining examples of a coastal-strand environment in Southern California, the Coal Oil Point Natural Reserve protects a wide variety of coastal and estuarine habitats. Largely undisturbed coastal dunes support a rich assemblage of dune vegetation and rare wildlife, including the dune spider, the globose dune beetle and the threatened Western Snowy Plover.

Our Nature Center is open to the public every Saturday from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm.
