History Walk with 3rd District Supervisor Joan Hartmann

Description

Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Enjoy a one-mile walk around a grove of olive trees located in the 95-acre Mission Santa Inés National Historic Landmark District. The olive grove lies between the mission and a milling complex built in 1821. We will take a side trail to the historic grist and fulling mills. The fulling mill, built by Joseph Chapman, is one of the earliest industrial sites in California and the only known water-powered fulling mill on the West Coast. Do not miss this rare opportunity for a tour of the fulling mill and the grist mill. Historians from the Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation will lead the tour.

In addition to local history this is an opportunity to learn more about Supervisor Hartmann’s vision for the future of recreation in Santa Barbara County and how you can become an open-space, trails, and parks advocate in our County.
