Description
This month’s Walking Wednesday is brought to you by a collaboration between COAST and Sansum Clinic’s Healthy People Healthy Trails program. Join Gerri French, Sansum Clinic dietitian for a nature and garden walking tour in Carpinteria. We will start at the Carpinteria Salt Marsh at 108 Ash Street to see wildlife and connect with nature. We will end our walk at the new Community Garden near the Amtrak train station where Gerri and 50 other people and families plant and harvest vegetables raised in small garden plots. There will be time to tour the garden, identify vegetables and discuss ways to grow, purchase and cook fresh local food. The Healthy People Healthy Trails program aims to work collaboratively with land agencies, health care providers, and community partners to improve the health and well-being of community members through the use and enjoyment of trails, parks, and open spaces.
